Didrik Solli Tangen was born a summer day 22 years ago outside Porsgrunn, a town situated a couple of hours south of Oslo. He had a typical childhood and among his interests and hobbies were off-road biking, skateboarding and of course, music.

At 15 years he formed a band with some mates and won the place as a drummer. One day, the lead singer of the band wanted some back-up harmonies, and he turned to the drummer. Since that day Didrik always took “the lead”. Didrik had discovered his voice and started performing in front of classmates and family, and joined the local “high school musical.” By the time he reached upper-secondary school his father had a plan; he wanted Didrik to get a professional voice coach and contacted Anders Vangen who was known as the best voice coach in the area. Didrik’s father wanted his son to move in a classical direction and this was the first step. Didrik adamantly refused to sing in an operatic style as he was heavlily inspired by Robbie Williams and his likes and had this preconcieved notion that classical music was old fashioned at the time. However, his coach slowly introduced him to great singers by lending him CDs and it didn`t take long before Didrik hit the high “C”.

Didrik is currently a full-time student at the highly acclaimed Barratt Due Insititute of performing arts in Oslo. Although Norwegian media refers to him as “the opera singer,” Didrik himself is very aware of the fact that it is many years of intense practice before he can use such a label on himself. His song “My Heart Is Yours” started its life in 2009 when Didrik met the accomplished songwriter Hanne Sørvaag. She was competing in the local selection in 2009 as a songwriter and they met at an afterparty in Skien. Hanne, who is an artist and a songwriter from Stavanger, lives in Stockholm, Sweden. There, she contacted Fredrik Kempe who is a well-known tune smith and together they wrote Didrik’s entry to the 2010 national competition. On February 6th 2010, Didrik won a convincing victory in the finale at Oslo Spektrum and then proudly represented Norway in Oslo’s Telenor arena on May 29th with “My Heart Is Yours”.

Litterature;
Stieg Larsson triology and of course Henrik Ibsen (whos from my neck of the wood)

Hobbies;
My X-box , photography, skiing and genrally working out in all kinds of ways.

Style;
Casual , but like to dress up occasionally. I like Norwegian designers such as Peter Løchstoer, T-Michael and Madou and Dean.

Food;
Anything mexican, hot and spicy food. Drinks; I love mixing classic drinks and you often find me behind the bar at parties.
